Abstract:Hemiphyllodactylus dupanglingensis was previously known only from Hunan, China. On October 28, 2024, three specimens (No. GXNU2024110801 ~ GXNU2024110803), exhibiting morphological features similar to those of H. dupanglingensis, were collected from Daguishan National Forest Park, Hezhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China. For the mitochondrial NADH dehydrogenase subunit 2 (ND2) gene, the sequencing peak maps of three sequences were evaluated and manually corrected in this study, and a total of other 23 sequences from 16 species of Hemiphyllodactylus were retrieved from GenBank (Table 1). Bayesian inference (BI) analysis was performed via PhyloSuite. The phylogenetic analysis based on ND2 gene revealed that the specimens and H. dupanglingensis specimens clustered together, with uncorrected pairwise distances (p-distance) of 0.017 (Table 3), which is less than the p-distances between species of the genus Hemiphyllodactylus (0.048 ~ 0.305). Considering both morphological characteristics and molecular phylogenetic analysis, it was determined that the two specimens collected in Hezhou were H. dupanglingensis, which was a new record species for amphibian distribution in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
