Notes on Nests of 7 Passerine Birds in Kuankuoshui Nature Reserve, Guizhou, Southwestern China

    Abstract:

    A total of 20 nests of 7 passerine bird were recorded from April to August, in 2012﹣2016 in Kuankuoshui National Nature Reserve, Guizhou, southwestern China. The study area is located in the core area of the nature reserve with subtropical moist broadleaved and mixed forest at an altitude of about 1 560 m, interspersed with tea plantation, bamboo and shrubby. Those bird species with nests being recorded were Mountain Bulbul (Hypsipetes mcclellandii), Spot-breated Scimitar-Babbler (Pomatorhinus erythrocnemis), Slaty-backed Forktail (Enicurus schistaceus), Godlewski′s Bunting (Emberiza godlewskii), Dusky Fulvetta (Alcippe brunnea), Rusty-capped Fulvetta (A. dubia) and Black-chinned Yuhina (Yuhina nigrimenta). Information of their nests, eggs/nestlings and nest sites were provided in the text.
